Culture Thursday

Poster series for Falmouth University’s visiting lecturers.

Each poster sticks to a straight-forward typographic framework, with each giving a small ‘nod’ to the speakers practice.

I created a series of posters for Falmouth University’s visiting lecturers, each designed with a simple typographic framework of Pangram Pangram’s Neue Montreal.  I relished the challenge of finding a unique way to reference the speaker’s practice, rather than being led by form or style too intensely.

The first poster for Felix Luke, a web developer, led with the idea of combining the ‘front-end’ and ‘back-end’ of code visually, and was printed on an ultra-glossy, shimmery grey paper stock.

The second, in collaboration with Meg Mardon, captured the work of Sam Winston by replicating his process of mark-making repetitive motions with pencil. Unlike him, we didn’t do it in the dark however (We should’ve).

The third was for the artist James Jarvis, and mimicked his expressive, scribbly style with a light reference to his iconic circular characters.
